MEChA de Mount Holyoke and Undocumented Immigrant Alliance present Semana Chicana: I Exist.

This year’s Semana Chicana focuses on systemic inequalities for undocumented communities of color within higher education, detention centers and immigration policies.

Monday March 23
Cafecito Immigrant Detention Centers
Time: 4:30-6:00PM
Place: Eliana Ortega House (behind the Health Center)
Our Cafecito is an information session with Professor David Hernández on immigrant detention centers. His research focuses on the U.S. detention regime, immigration policy and deportation. Come learn with us and have free cafe de olla (coffee with cinnamon)!

Tuesday March 24
Film Screening of Papers from 6:30PM-8:00PM
Place: Cleveland L3
Take a study break and come watch Papers with us! Papers is a film about undocumented youth and the challenges they face as they turn 18 without legal status.…

Wednesday March 25
Photo Campaign: Undocu Facts
Blanchard Table
We are continuing last semester’s photo campaign to create awareness about the obstacles that undocumented students face while pursuing higher education. We are tabling at Blanchard from 1:30PM-7:30PM. Stop by and take your picture with a fact!… <<-last semester’s campaign

Dialogue: Mixed Status Families
South Rockies Common Room
Informal dialogue to understand how immigration impacts us directly or indirectly, specifically within our families and communities. Join us for a sincere, emotional and consciousness-building discussion.
